When I enter content starting with "00E-" preceded by a numeric character, Google Sheets automatically replaces it with "0"—what is happening?

Hey Felix,
Simply add a single quote (') before the value, and it will work correctly. For example:
'00E-4823

Alternatively, you can change the cell format to Text before entering the value, which will also prevent the issue.

The reason this happens is that Google Sheets interprets values such as 00E-4823 as scientific notation (a numeric value) rather than text. Both of the methods above tell Google Sheets to treat the value as plain text instead of a number.

Thanks
