Happy New Year, Search Educators,

We are pleased to announce our first search education class that will
be streamed live through *Google+ Hangouts On Air*. This Alpha test
will be an early chance for you to try out the technology, as well as
an opportunity to invite others to join you who you feel could benefit
from a basic introduction to Google search.

You do not need to register in advance for this one, you will just
need to enter Google+ and follow the directions below to to join in.
It is a perfect opportunity for educators and librarians who have been
wanting a free introductory class for Google Search, without having to
travel. So, spread the word!

*What*: Even better search results: Getting to know Google search for
education

Google makes it simple to find the information you need, but there are
strategies for making higher quality search even easier. Learn the
basics of predictive search, a method for drawing on what you know
about what you need to find it faster, including successful word
choice and using the filters on the left-hand side of the screen to
uncover information you never dreamed was possible.

*Who*: Google Search Education Team

*Where*: Hangouts On Air in Google+

*When*: Friday, January 6, 2012, 1-2pm Pacific

*How*:
1) Enter Google+ (More info below if you are not currently a Google+
user--you just need a Google account to have access.)
2) Find Tasha Bergson-Michelson, Google Search Educator, at around
12:55 Pacific. You can find Tasha at this link:
https://plus.google.com/113879286190138108366/posts
3) Look in Tasha's stream for the Hangouts On Air post. Don't enter
the Hangout, just click on the Play button (the triangle inside a
circle in the middle of the screen) to view and hear the talk.
Attendance space is unlimited.

If you have not used Google+ simply log in to your Gmail or Google
account and go to plus.google.com. There, you will be given the option
to join Google Plus. You can set up an account--be sure to give
yourself a few minutes to do this.

If you have never used a Hangout, you may also want to click on the
"start a Hangout" link in the right column and try opening one to make
sure that all is functioning properly on your computer.

We'd love for you to join us in this new adventure!

Hope to see you there,
Tasha and Dan
