Hello to our Google Meter API clients!

If you are batch-uploading data to Google PowerMeter, please read this notice and reply to k...@google.com.

In an upcoming release, we plan to expand the batch feed at https://www.google.com/powermeter/feeds/event to accept batch-uploading of both durational and instantaneous measurements.  Consequently, every <entry> element posted to the batch feed will need to contain a <category> element identifying the kind of event, e.g.:

    <category scheme="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#kind"
Although the <category> tag has been described as required in the API documentation, this requirement has not been enforced.  Before we turn enforcement on, we'd like to check with each of you and make sure that you're already sending the correct <category> tag with each measurement entry.

Because we'd like to get this feature out soon, we'd like to hear back from you by the close of business on Monday, August 10.

Thank you,

— Ka-Ping Yee
