Marker size in StreetView are OK in ie8 but not in firefox and chrome?
Is there something to do about this, please?

http://beta.findtoilet.dk/ click Region Hovedstaden/København and
click on toilets in left menu choose StreetView from infowindow and
see how the markers behave different in diff. browsers. Only ie8 shows
the marker as it should be.

I posted a similar message a few weeks ago:

Interesting, I just tried now with IE8/XP and it looks good:

Using Chrome/OSX I get the giant scaled marker:

Unfortunately I think the marker scaling is a feature which for some reason doesn't work in IE8 or was not implemented.
It would be nice if we could explicitly disable it.

Hope some of the employees are looking at our problem or should I post
it another place?

If you look at this site http://yukonlive.ca/yukonlive-war/highways/fishing.faces#
and click the first marker and from infowindow Go there you will as in
my site ie8 icon looks as it should but in Firefox and Chrome like
mine they look different but very small instead of very big so looks
like it's possible to do something - just don't know what and where
but maybe we should contact the programmer of the site or?

The reason why the markers are small is because of their distance from the street view location.

Maybe a calculation can be made from the coordinates of the streetview position to adjust the location of the marker to make it a more acceptable or consistent size? ... Ideally an option to disable marker scaling would be the easiest solution ...

Yes, see old posting

I don't think you can, and I don't think anyone has requested such a
feature yet.

Rossko,

Thanks for pointing out that old posting.  Another solution might be to simply set a threshold on the maximum size of the marker.  On maps.google.com, the marker only grows slightly larger based on its distance to the streetview position.

The giant scaled marker is pointless.  It obscures the view and is ugly when pixelated and blurry:

Hopefully someone from the maps team is taking note of this issue.

There isn't an official "issue" ... you can create an enhancement
request (e.g. to disable or modify this behaviour) at the issues
tracker, if you want something to happen.

I can't figure out how to do this but maybe someone else can do it and
report back what I can do after this, please?

http://beta.findtoilet.dk/ - Region Hovedstaden / København / Toilet
nid:5 / Infowindow/StreetView - se how the marker completely covers
the toiletbuilding/advertising pillar. :-(

I've come to dislike the icon scaling in Street View too and have just
created a feature request to at least let us disable the scaling.

http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=2969

If everyone wants to star the request - and if you want more options
than simply disabling scaling then probably best to add a comment.

Thanks.

Martin.

Can someone tell me if this is going to be fixed or not? If it isn't I
can't use it on my project and don't know what to do then? Go back to
v2? If so then I can't use automatic finding StreetView as in v3 which
I really like.

No solution yet?

If you look at this site http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keir.clarke/web/v3.htm
and StreetView in diff. browsers it looks like the icon is the same
size, right or?

Hi Tine.

Using Firefox the icons on that map appear at different sizes
depending on their distance from the current streetview position.

Did you see the post on the issue i created?

Issue is here:
http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=2969

Workaround is here:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/forum.html?place=topic/google-maps-js-api-v3/dJHxnsxPrzs/discussion

It's not a very elegant solution but is effective in stopping icons
being scaled in Streetview.

Martin.

NO I had not seen this
http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/forum.html%3Fplace%3Dtopic/google-maps-js-api-v3/dJHxnsxPrzs/discussion

Can you make this changes to my site http://beta.findtoilet.dk/ then
to see if it can be done?

When I look in the issue it says:
2969 Enhancement New

What does this mean? Are they going to fix it or not?

Maybe using a special version for 3 can solve our problems
https://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-js-api-v3/browse_thread/thread/c9c8e7d6f03189e2?hl=en#
?

It means it is under consideration as an enhancement or new feature.
It's not a "bug" to be fixed; things are behaving as designed. The
request is for a change in behaviour, perhaps optionally. A change
may or may not happen, eventually.

Wait no more...

http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=2969

"Markers are now only shrunk, not enlarged".

Martin.
