Autoscaling MarkerImage Makes Apps Useless

As of 16 Aug 2010 Google has introduced a new feature that in V3
Panorama mode automatically scales a MarkerImage icon based on its
distance away from the users current LatLng co-ordinates (this is
occuring on iPad - does NOT occur on a Windows based computer). This
results in Markers that were 100px wide being reduced to 5px wide or
less if their LatLng co-ordinates are more than a few meters away from
your current position; making all Markers other than the one you are
standing at useless since they are now illegible and/or
unrecognizable.

I suspect that Google is smart enough to have added a function to
optionally turn off this autoscaling so that the MarkerImage can stay
the same size regardless of what distance you are from the LatLng co-
ordinate it represents, but there is no documentation to indicate how
to turn this new autoscaling off so that the MarkerImage stays at its
defined width.

Any one know how to do this - please advise.

Marker scaling is implemented using CSS transforms, which exist in all
supported browsers except IE. It is not specific to eg. Windows or
iPad.

We'll restrict the maximum and minimum scaling. Meanwhile please
specify an API version, such as v=3.1, to avoid surprise changes.

Hi Gray,

I'd be interested to see the effect of the scaled markers on your
site. Can you provide a link to the site using the current version or
at least to the marker image and describe how you're using it?
