Hi,

I've made a couple posts recently and was asked if I could post a link to my map. Unfortunately my map is only published on an intranet development server, so it is not accessible from the internet at large.I can however share my code when necessary.  I have a few questions I was wondering about and decided to place those questions in a new thread.

One of the problems I am having is that my map does not display properly in firefox, and even chrome. In Internet explorer, my map displays with markers and all the marker/cluster functionality. In firefox and chrome, I do not even see the markers. I was wondering why this would be the case...?

Another difficulty I am having is that I want my map to be keyboard accessible and consequently I want to be able to use the keyboard to navigate to the map. I created a link which when clicked on navigates to the div tag which contains the map. However, this does not make the map keyboard accessible. It only becomes keyboard accessible when I click on the map. Maybe there is some way to activate the click event of the map in general. I'm not sure about this one.

Any input on these issues would be helpful.

In the mean-time I will continue to research these issues.

Thanks,

Greg

If your map is only on your intranet then you must have a Premier
license, which entitles you to direct support from Google. Just
contact your Google Premier representative with your questions and
they'll be happy to help.

My map is currently just in development but eventually it will be posted publicly. I'm currently working on it. What exactly is a Premier License and why do I need it?

Thanks,

I read that the google maps is a free api for businesses which provide a free website service which is exactly what this is. Could you clarify why I need Google Premier and why it has to be paid for given these conditions.

Thank you

my reading of the Terms is that it's fine to have a map hosted locally
while it's in development, but must be publicly available once it is
finished.

the problem with that and asking for help, though, is that code
snippets don't work (often the problem is not where you think it is)
and very few people will bother reading your code if you post it in
its entirety here. Live pages are much easier to debug. So if you can
provide a link to your map (there's plenty of free hosting around) you
will get more answers, quicker.

Most of the reasons as to why you wouldn't post a link are answered

Then you'll also have the means, or will have to get the means, to
post your developing example publicly. After all, you want people to
spend time helping you, not spend time copy/pasting stuff to their own
hosting, ironing out mistakes in the process, reproducing missing
files like CSS, and eventually finding out the problem is not even
apparent in a different environment. It's your problem - you spend
that time. It's all covered pretty well at

It's a licence which can include the privilege to run Maps on an
intranet, the name's been changed to 'Google Maps API for Business'
See FAQ
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/faq.html#tos_commercial
but sounds like you don't need it.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. Based on my reading, a premier license is not necessary in my situation.
I would like to provide a link to my map, but my coworkers tell me that is not possible. If it is acceptable to the people on this board, I would like to be able to use google groups as a resource. As a novice student programmer, I appreciate the help I get from other users. If you do not want to help me with my problems, due to time considerations and having no link to the map, I accept that. I do not want to be a terrible inconvenience. Truth be told however, I will not be dealing with this particular discussion board much longer since I am nearly done my current work.

Best Regards..

If you want help from any group it is good manners to follow any
guidelines for the group

It is not that we don't want to help but unless you post a link it
can be virtually impossible to find the error

In over 40 years programming it amazes me that some of the help groups
and forums I thought I may never use again have had to be visited
again.

Good luck but remember you manners
