Is it possible to show speed limits of road segments on google maps?

Hi,

In general throughout USA (as per my knowledge) every road will have some speed limit (there might be some indicators showing the speed limits).

I wanted to show the speed limit (usually 60MPH, 70MPH,100MPH, etc..) for each road on the google maps.

Is there any possibility to show the speed limit of road segments on the map?

Please help me if you guys had any clue.

Sure ; you could display icons (like roadsigns perhaps) or overlay
coloured lines. As there are likely to be a lot, but they don't
change often, the most effective way might be with KML or Fusion
Tables.

However, you will need to find a source for your data, I don't know of
any.

OpenStreetMap I believe are building speed limits into their database.

I do not have any data with me.
I am expecting google may provide it in the form of some layer (which
we can overlay on top the google layers, maybe on top street view).
Barry, Could you please tell me how can I proceed to get that data
from openstreetmap? and also please let me know if any other provider
exists?
