Gmap v3 problem scripts and IE < 9

I set up a geolocation system Gmap with V3 on one of my sites.

The problem is that the map does not appear if the version of IE is below 9 which is quite annoying as there are still a lot (too) many people with IE8 and IE7.

This problem also occurs in the interface to add a marker on the map.

I tried to do with the debugger IE9 (simulation IE8) but without success.

Does anyone have an idea of where this problem might come?

It doesn't work in Firefox either. See this explanation:
http://econym.org.uk/gmap/basic19.htm (which demonstrates it with a
Version 2 map, but the problem is how sizes are managed, not actually
a maps issue).

Thank you very much for your reply and your help,

I followed your example. Now it works perfectly for IE in my sample page in against it does not work on my site yet I gave my size divs (html, body, div#map_canvas). It's very strange...
