Places autosuggest doesn't work on Android browsers

I am trying to setup a mobile site that uses google maps api 3 and places autosuggest. I have been able to successfully setup autosuggest functionality using following example.

http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-autocomplete.html

However, it doesn't work on android devices. I have tested the site on desktop (IE, Chrome and Firefox) and mobile (Iphone and Android) browsers. It works for every every browser except Android. I have tested this on Motorola Atrix and Samsung Infuse. Even the link above had the same effect.

Has any one come across this issue? Any idea how to fix it?
