Map Newbie - which map for multiple points? SO CONFUSED!

I am trying to add a map to my site and thought this would be simple.  I am looking at the API's and have NO idea which one to pick, let alone how to plot multiple points on my map.  Can someone point me in the right direction as to which map to use for multiple locations?  For example, if you go to Home Depot's website and type in your desired zip code, the map displays the points of all locations within the given radius.  That's what I need to do, to a T.  Plain and simple.  I have my geo data in a database and get my list back based on the given area code, now I just need to know how to put those locations on my map.  I have yet to see something that point blank tells me which map to use and how to do it.  Sorry if this is a dumb question.  I'm REALLY needing to head in the correct direction today.  TIA.
