I use google map in my travel site, and I want to show the public
transit route for my recent trip. Google Map has this option, but by
reading Gmap API v3, I found DirectionsTravelMode class has only three
mode, Walking, Driving and Bicycling. Should I look for something eles
to show it on my map, or it has not support in GMap API?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer.

Public transit routes are not available in the API.

If it was on roads, you can try using driving directions.

You could use a KML overlay.

Say, I'd like to create a KML to show the train route from Tokyo to
Kyoto. Is that possible?

Yes it is possible. But you need a source of the data (that is not
part of the API). You either need to find railways in Japan or trace
the route manually.

This or a similar search might help:

To trace the route manually, use Google Earth. Open the overlay branch
for More/Transportation/Rail then go to the menu option to add path
and trace your route. It can be a laborious process.

Thanks guys. Found the official reason why this is not supported.

http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=713

And, I also found some good GPS track data shared in everytrail.com.
That works too.
