Turn Off Continuous Zoom

I would like to see a way to turn off continuous zoom for markers, perhaps for the marker overlay or for a custom OverlayView in which I could add my markers.

 

It is very disconcerting to see a bunch of icons zoom in large and then shrink back to normal size when the new map tiles arrive. Looks much better in IE which doesn't have continuous zoom.

Hi ,  news on this ?   I have this problem too. I use marker cluster and labeled markers with custom icons and at least 300-350 markers .  On Chrome is work good . Map is loading fast ( very fast ! ) and the problem of icons that going large on zoom out with mouse weel  is not so terrible . If i use firefox map is slow ( i have no extension loaded ) for loading map when zoom and custom icons on zoom out are TERRIBLE . For a second or two i have icons big . On internet explorer is ok , is not fast but is not very fast with gmaps v2  too .   I make a little video

I see that a version of markercluster make maps looks better .  I think is this http://code.google.com/p/google-maps-utility-library-v3/source/browse/tags/markerclusterer/1.0/src/markerclusterer.js?r=109  . I'm not sure is this , the js that i've download is from an example from web .
If you zoom on the map the marker are Hide . when you stop zoom markers are show .  if you zoom back icons are hide . when you stop zoom icons are visibile again . Is not beautiful to see icons showing and hiding but is better that see a Big icon on the screen .
