Macedonia (FYROM) issue - VERY IMPORTANT

Hey guys. I would like to ask you if you could change the name of the
country "Macedonia (FYROM) [English-Preffered]" to "Macedonia (English
- Preffered)" or "Republic of Macedonia (English - Preffered)" because
FYROM is offendable to the Macedonians. The constitutional name of
that country is Republic of Macedonia so it would be nice if you
respect that. Only one country in the world find that name wrong and
that is Greece. But 99% of the countries use the name Macedonia or
Republic of Macedonia for communication. So i'm speaking in the name
of the whole Macedonian nation.

That's a tough request Petar. The naming of the country Macedonia is already a source of international dispute for the last 20 years and there has not been a settlement yet between your government and the government of Greece. Until that moment the temporary name as recognized at UN level is FYROM, from former Yuguslav Republic of Macedonia.

Technically it is possible that the name of the country is changed in MapMaker by someone from Google, but country level information in Google Geo products have already caused international conflicts and I doubt that given the ongoing dispute between the two countries mentioned above, Google will voluntarily choose one side or the other to name the country. Using the name which was accepted by the UN on a temporary base is the safest bet in this case I guess.

Dear Umbraro,

we are totally aware of it... but still Google is a US company, and the United States have recognized Macedonia under its constitutional name: Republic of Macedonia. :)

And FYROM is a non-sense term nowadays, since it means Former YUGOSLAV Republic of Macedonia, Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore.

What about renaming Greece (FOPOG) - FOPOG = Former Ottoman Province of Greece, you will make 2 mil. Macedonians, and 80 mil. of Germans satisfied, including 60 mil. Turks :D (this was a joke).
