Driving directions now on Google Maps for 18 more countries -- thank you!

Dear Mappers,

This week we released driving directions on Google Maps for 18
countries across Eastern Europe and Asia where the base map data comes
from Google Map Maker! Google Maps users in those countries can now
get good directions without having to ask someone, and your mapping
efforts are helping those millions of people to find their way from
point A to point B faster and better than ever. We'll have a blog post
out on this new feature launch early next week, and will update this
post with a link to it.

In the meantime, give driving directions on Google Maps a spin. If you
find an issue in the directions, you can correct it yourself in Map
Maker. For all the countries not on the list below where Map Maker
data is already on Google Maps, we plan to roll out driving directions
as the data gets richer (e.g. with better coverage and accurate turn
restrictions and speed limits).

That was really great when I got directions on Google Maps. thank you

and it's about some thing, may not be an issue, but I think I should
get the idea cleared that how Google Maps is making decision to choose
from possible routes. As below I am showing very simple and straight
forward Directions from *Sheikhupura, Pakistan* to *Faisalabad,
Pakistan*. Google Maps suggessted me the following two routes

1- Via M-2 and M-3 with estimated distance of *141.km* and duration of
*1 hour 58 minutes*

and duration of *2 hours 1 minute*

- and ofcourse from above two routes Google Maps prefered the 1st one
which is via M-2 and M-3. Good enough..

- but for a while take the second route which is via Faisalabad-
Sheikhupura Road. And zoom in at the Sheikhupra side you should notice
that Google chose a low priority road and took the left turn from
*Sheikhupura ByPass* (Secondary Road) to the *Sharaqpur - Sheikhupura
Road* (Local).

Instead I thought Google should have chosen to keep the route from
*Sheikhupura ByPass* throughly. So to check the values I modified the
route as below.

And it shows that this route is the shortest than both above routes in
every aspect it gives the *109.km* in *1 hour and 34 minutes* which is
even better.

Great news.
But why is it just driving direction? When can we have walking
direction?
Also would you please urge Mapmaker team :
1. to solve Issue #448 (Directions does not use "road direction" )
2. to render the mapmaker data more often (It used to be rendered once
a week-which I hoped to happen more as the GMM improves- but after the
great upgrade it has been rendered just once, I suppose)
so that we will be able to make more accurate directions?

Since driving directions cannot associate and recognize a road direction in Map Maker, all error found in google maps directions still pending to be fixed..

It must have been that the roads or speeds were fixed after the data
update. These directions will be available when Map Maker data gets

Thanks. I also hope that in Pakistan we will soon have the driving directions with landmarks as it was released for India few months ago. As you perhaps already know that street naming situation is somewhat similar in whole sub-continent. Cheers
