Since there's not yet a collaboration site or group for Pinoy map makers, I thought I'd start the ball rolling with this site:

https://sites.google.com/site/mappingthephilippines/

It's currently very sparse, but it's better than nothing.

I welcome any and all comments and suggestions for improving the site.

Additional links you may want to add to the site:

ZIP codes by barangay: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ZIP_Codes_in_the_Philippines

QC government website: www.quezoncity.gov.ph and has links to the
barangays. Useful info one can get is the population. There is also
the map provided which shows the cuts of the barangays.

Thanks, I have updated the site to include your suggestions.

For Quezon City, the barangays are still marked as Localities, could
everyone help to make these sub-localities instead so as to
standardize?

Also, Paranaque and Pasay are marked as localities, could everyone
help approve the change to city/town/village status.

At the view in the link above, all the cities should have names of the
same size. Their are villages which are marked as city/town/village.
Help delete/moderate/change these.

Most of Mandaluyong City's barangays have been standardized to sub-
localities and have correct boundaries already because of the official
city website. Quezon City also has a map of its barangays on its
website but very slow to load because it's a big WMF file

Yes, the first 2 that I checked (and edited) are indeed Localites.
While we're editing barangays, I suggest that we name them using the
"Barangay $name" form. This is more accurate and would make checking
of boundaries (between cities/municpalities) later on much easier
since all the barangays would be clearly visible in map view.

This might be a problem. I've noticed that if an area is categorized
as a major political region (Sub-Locality and higher), it can only be
changed to another major political region. "Gated Community" or
"Community" does not appear in the drop down list anymore once the
area has been approved.

It might be easier to request the GMM developers to fix that apparent
oversight, since I'm sure this problem will persist for a very long
time. Is this group monitored by GMM developers?

I've updated "our" collaboration site to include guidelines for naming
features. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions:

Could everyone just help edit the levels. There's this big West Rembo
which just does not disappear on the higher zoom functions. Please
approve the change to a lower sub-locality. We can just demote all
villages to sub-locality for now so that it's not very confusing on
the big maps. Once it is possible to convert, we could just change
them to gated communities.

I think it should just be the name of the barangay as the preferred
and the one with the "barangay" as the obscure one. It would look
messy on the map and most people don't call them by barangay
something, like Fairview or Murphy.

Mr Ding, could you please tell me how we could comment on your
collaboration site? I couldn't find a link.

Everyone, I would like to request people to help approve/add/modify
the cities and municipalities in Central Luzon.

Yes, most people _in the Philippines_ don't call them Brgy. Something,
but please remember that the maps should be readable to people
worldwide. This is probably not a unique case, but in Quezon
Province, there is a Municipality of Quezon and a Brgy. Quezon (in the
Municipality of Pitogo). If the "Municipality of" and "Barangay" are
left out, a GM user who is unfamiliar with the area would most likely
be confused with seeing 3 Quezons at a certain area.

It appears that the "Allow Comments" on google sites pages doesn't
mean what I thought it meant. Apparently, only site owners and
collaborators see the "add comment" link. So instead of a comment
box, I've set up a google group[1] so everyone interested in giving
comments or suggestions on the collaboration site may post there.
