7. The interface for the new 'Select a Segment' tool appears in the
left pane...why...why not in a balloon like the rest of the dialogues
which pop up inside the map frame? UI inconsistency?!

Another problem I see, is that sometimes when I try to delete a road
or a bulding (only those I tried for now), it doesen't really delete
them even if there is no moderation needed and the message on top says
my change has been published. And when i check in that road history I
see that my Delete action was in fact only an editing feature with no
change in fact. What's the problem ?
Was just thinking that now i have to post another issue and you beat
me to it!
try deleting a POI and it says feature published..whereas in reality
feature still there every time you search.

It's working fine if you use it on old roads that haven't had any
deleted sections lately. Probably that's your case there.
You also cannot use it for new roads (that you just added).

It's already been stated somewhere on the forums that the select
segment tool uses the "get directions" to find the selected path.
That's the source of its problems, actually; while for "Get
Directions" it may be acceptable to operate on two-weeks old data -
this is not nice when you're actively mapping/fixing an area.
I also noticed that the render run doesn't fix things; it looks like
Get Directions uses a different cache. The last rendering did not fix
the roads I had problems with - and Get Directions still uses old road
names that are no longer visible on the map.

Dan C.

Means that I missed that statement.
however if it works as *Get Directions* then ofcourse that's the
problem we can not use this tool in the way as it says by its name to
Select a desired Segment. as It will select the route according to the
good directions rather than the route we want to select.
I also yet not have experienced it with the recently rendered things.
I have worked with it on these two different things so far.
with already rendered roads(ofcourse some older), where it worked.
and with currently added roads, where it didn't. work. ofcourse that
is bad we will not be able to use that tool in very useful manner.
So what's next? are they going to make changes in the working of this
tool or it is really some thing else than we think it of.

KA.

What about the error where names in the first row of name attrib of
many poi's and polygons were changed to Obscure hence making 'other-
script' names become default and hence all names started appearing in
the other languages? so far fixing manually by changing name attrib to
preferred. Was that fixed with this as well?

Your issues are actually old, not new. What you have reported about
and the concerns you have raised have all been raised many months ago
by myself and others. There is a few discussion threads, mostly under
the "Moderating Features" and there are a couple of related issues
posted in the Issue tracker. Please add your votes in the issue
tracker if you like or even add some more suggestions regarding
moderation and editing.
Thanks for raising the issue again and keeping it fresh. Moderation is
important.
