This must have come up before, but searching I can not find an answer.

A zip code here covers multiple cities, but the post office address verification will only show the city that the post office is located in.

There's a business here that I tried to change the city name to the real city it is located in instead of the post office city.  My edit was denied.  The places in the city are all a mixed up mess with some calling out the real city, and some calling out the post office city.

What is the proper city to use?  The city the place is located in, or the city that the post office is in?

For reference I'm talking about an official city incorporated in the state in the 1950's with a population in thousands.  Not a local neighborhood, and no complicated overlapping boundaries like some areas have.

You should add the physical address, which would be the actual city not the one the post office says. See http://support.google.com/mapmaker/answer/1731390?hl=en

What is the URL for the edit you made and/or the feature you wanted to correct the city for?

Lets see if this works.

It is in the city of Lexington, not Circle Pines.

Denied by a Google reviewer.  Any way to prevent future denials?

You can prevent future denials by using the comment I left indicating the edit was good. Also asking for a Review Request in the sub-forum will also help. Not sure why it was denied other than the reasons you pointed to.
