This is maddening.
A few years ago mine and my neighbors addresses would show down to the street view on Google maps. I had our address as a saved link and would use it when I needed to make a map to our home for some party or function.
Now the real problem. For a number of years I have run a computer repair business from my home, which I had verified through Google Places.
Sometime within the past year or two, Google maps has "lost?" the street addresses for our street.
Personally, I could live with this, but for my business, I keep getting removed from the Local Places search results because an address can no longer be verified. I have attempted to re-verify a number of times, trying different addressing possibilities. Sometimes I will see my business back in the Local Search results for a few weeks, only to disappear again before long

A few days ago I finally found a method of manually adding my address back into the maps (drawing a box around the home and editing the address). Now I have received an email from the Google reviewer stating:
(quote)
Hi, This business is better suited to be added through Google places as it requires a specific verification process. Request you to ‘Undo’ the edit using the Undo option under My edits tab and add this business on places :http://places.google.com .
(unquote)

How can I get my address back into Google Maps so I can keep my business verified so it shows up in the Local Search results?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thing would be to provide a description of what your address is. (#, street name, town/city, state, country)

Second thing would be to provide a GPS coordinate of where your house is. You can do this by right clicking in maps and selecting "what's here" or in MapMaker by rightclicking and selecting "Find near this place."

After that we can determine what the issue is. I could go on and on but this is a good place to start.

It would help to have a link to the area in Map Maker.

It might be because the Address/Plot for your house was removed, or the current street is no longer valid (the street was renamed, the road was deleted and recreated, etc.), or something else. I would start with checking to see if your house has an address/plot first
  1. Click on Browse, and type in "Address/Plot" in the text box.
  2. If there is an address/plot on/near your house,
    1. Select it, and click Edit.
    2. Check to make sure that there is a street number filled in.
    3. Check to make sure that the street is correctly selected (the name is written out in full, there is only one option of each street name (eg. There aren't two "Cinder Street")). If the street isn't written out in full, then there should be another option in the Street Name box that has the street written out in full.
    4. Check to make sure that the state is written out in full (Texas instead of TX). If the abbreviation is selected, change it to the full name.
    5. Submit the edit, and it will go into review.
  3. If there isn't an address/plot on/near your house, or there isn't one that matches your house number,
    1. Create a new address/plot from Add New>Add a Place.
    2. Fill in the fields (do NOT type in anything for the Name and do NOT add a building/boundary).
    3. Submit the edit, and it will go into review.
Also, I don't think drawing a box around your house is the best option (for any kind of feature).

Hi all,

I was interested in the topic as I am having a similar problem. Mr Saikrishna, you mentioned  "there is only one option of each street name (eg. There aren't two "Cinder Street". So here's the reality of my problem. There are TWO "Jalan Hilir 6" in my area. Both with the same postcode and city. The difference is only in the area name. I tried editing using Google Map Maker to change it but apparently a Google reviewer flagged my edit as Auto Denial and commented "Thanks for using Google Map Maker. The changes made seems inappropriate to the feature. Please undo your edit using the Undo option in the left pane under the My Edits tab." The status of the edit has been reverted. So I'm back to square one.

To prove my dilemma, this is my address " Jalan Hilir 6, TAMAN AMPANG HILIR, 55100 Kuala Lumpur" (with the neighborhood roads having numbered from Jalan Hilir 1-7). Meanwhile the next door neighborhood has an address of " Jalan Hilir 6, TAMAN ANGSANA HILIR, 55100 Kuala Lumpur " (with their road being numbered from Jalan Hilir 1-6). This might be a stupid glitch made by the planning department or whoever it was authorizing such similar and confusing addresses, when the latter was developed later than our neighborhood.

But now that the second neighborhood is recognized by Google. We are having a maddening problem where the only way to pin point our road is by typing in " Jalan Hilir 6 Kampung Pandan Dalam Kuala Lumpur Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur Malaysia ". And when I tried to change the area name from " Kampung Pandang Dalam " to " Taman Ampang Hilir ", to my amaze, I further discovered the details of my road to be in a different area and state! -Ampang Jaya, Selangor

Now this is too confusing for a person who only wants to correct their address. So, if there cannot be two roads of the same name, how do you suggest I correct this? Any help is much appreciated!

To all:

It would be much better to have a link to the area/feature in question so that we know what you are taking about and there is a context/background for the question. Searching for the area can return something that you aren't expecting

To get a link to the current view, use the chain icon on the right or click on Options>Link to this page.

There are three main ways to get a link to a feature or an edit.
  1. If the feature in question appears in the search results (NOT the My Edits or Updates tabs), you can right-click on the feature name and click on Copy Link or Copy Target (or something similar to that, depending on what browser you use).
  2. For features appearing anywhere (Search Results, My Edits, or Updates), click on Details, and use either the link button (the chain icon) on the right side or Options (the gear icon)>Link to this Page. If you want, when posting the link, you can get rid anything after the "fid" values or the "editids" values (dtab, ll, spn, z, lyt, hyaw). Your final link will look something like http://www.google.com/mapmaker?iwloc=0_0&gw=39&fid=9739879572866403409:15626530465572677224 or http://www.google.com/mapmaker?iwloc=0_0&gw=55&editids=YmpdWuWhYDjyB0TE9H.
  3. For links to specific edits that you (or someone else) has made, go to Options>My Profile, and click on the Edits tab. For each edit that you want to copy, right-click on the "View this edit on Google Map Maker" text, and copy the link. You may want to sort by status to see all of your pending edits in one section.
To make sure, you can click on the link to see what comes up. If you are posting to the forums here about a specific edit or feature, you'll want to have the feature or edit directly come up after clicking the link.

Okay, I have followed your directions. I had to enter a category. I chose "Computer Repair Service". I also entered the correct address, and then submitted it.
My details are as follows:
This is a home-based computer repair business.
PC Doctor
S78W16465 Spinnaker Drive, Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
Short URL from Google Maps:  http://goo.gl/maps/NmUKN
The street-view picture is 4 - 6 years old.

Unfortunately that was not quite correctt.  The category is "Address / Plot" and choosing that will not allow you to enter anything except an address.

Please undo your current edit, as service area business such as yours cannot be entered from within Map Maker.  You are still welcome to enter an Address / Plot for better directions; but to enter your business you will need to go to http://www.google.com/Places.  Be sure to read their quality guidelines, you must set a service area and hide your address if you do not have a storefront.
