I am having problem getting Direction to work with Trails/Path. I made the trail by Rowan Road and went to test but pedestrian Direction can't seem to recognize the path and plot around it I noticed that nearby similar feature are all in Road forms with No Auto Traffic, which works. Any idea why?

The specific area is here; the trail in concern is one between Doncaster Rd and Cedar Hill Rd for instance, vs the one between Rowan Roads by Thistle Rd

(I currently have the Rowan trail in pending; I been changing the parameter originally from Gravel to Asphalt (which is not true clearly from Streetview) just for testing.)

Thanks.

If you are referring to the Directions, then this is because Directions doesn't use the "right-now" information. It has to be updated every so often to update the info. Therefore, Directions doesn't know that there is a path there. The current update cycle seems to be every month, with the occasional gap of two months.

Oh...okay...

But that lead me to another question: which type should I use, road or trail? They both have no auto traffic...

If it doesn't support vehicular traffic at all, I would suggest trail. Judging from Street View, there is a small fence blocking off vehicular access, so I would go with trail here.

If you were to test an edit, at least make it to something that would be approved, like gravel to unpaved or unpaved to gravel, since those are both equivalent. Unfortunately, just so you know, changing it to asphalt when knowing that it's clearly wrong does violate Google's terms of service: "[...] you agree that when using the Service, you will not: [...] create or label any submission such as a road, business, park or similar point of interest in a manner that you know, or should reasonably know, is inaccurate [...]" - http://www.google.com/mapmaker/intl/en_ALL/mapfiles/s/terms_mapmaker.html

As mentioned elsewhere on the forums, a sandbox feature needs to be implemented to avoid such test edits on the map where it could go live.

Alright I'll keep that in mind...and yes a sandbox would be much appreciated.
