Greetings

1- Could some one please Define `Water Navigation'?

2- I have come across a situation where a Mapper has linked the two ends of the Road on two banks of a River as `Water Navigation'.

4- Road is MDR 74W. River name is Ram Ganga. Ram Ganga is still unmapped.

5- When I try to Map Ram Ganga, the comment comes `It overlaps a River'.

6- So what is Water Navigation?

thanks

Water navigation connecting banks of a river or connecting ports of a sea, by means of ferry or cruise or ship. It will be a part of the navigation as there will be no other means of travel other than through water.

Good to know. "Water Navigation" is an appropriate but vague name for this category, especially with nothing about it in the help section.

1- Thanks. That is quite logical.

2- The only problem is that `Water' (sea, river, canal, lake etc) must be already Mapped before the `Water Navigation' blue line is drawn.

3- In my quoted case, when I try to Map the river, I am prevented by a comment `River already exits' because of the `Water Navigation' blue line from bank to bank.

4- I guess the solution is `software limiter' which prevents a `Water Navigation' Edit unless water is there. The comment to the Mapper can be `please first draw the water (River, Lake etc)

thanks & regards

1- Thanks. Issue 655 is a good thread.

2- Today I added some more text: ``Comment 5 by nazarhayatkhanToday (moments ago)
1- Very good discussion.

2- Since Google Help will get too cumbersome with Water Features details, suggest use Wikipedia as the Standardization source for definitions.

3- Water features be treated separate subject by the GMM Mapping Tool.

4- Barrage should be added.

4- `Flow of water' indication is very important. It can & does cause confusion during Mapping. A periodic `arrow' in the water blue line can resolve this issue.

5- The size of channel/canal/river (small/big)is also important. Thickness, shading & shine of blue line can resolve this issue.
