Proper way to add waterfalls to map?

Is there a proper way to add waterfalls to the map? I see "water hole" as a point feature to add, but not waterfall.

There use to be an additional category, "Waterfall".  A few weeks ago, you could mark an Establishment / Point of Interest and then select the additional category "Waterfall".  But.... things have changed....

Create a river linear segment for the waterfall.  Save it.  Change the river segment to waterfall in the dropdown.

That's the answer.

But I don't think it is the way it should work : Water falls are usually vertical, and there is no 3D in line features ;-)

Furthermore, they often are touristic points of interest, might be worth been marked by a polygon, have a name, etc. (the name of a ' river' waterfall won't appear on the map,  whereas for a 'POI' waterfall it will)

I agree that waterfalls are often more of a point feature.  Here's an example of a linear segment in Lao, though.

So at this time, if it is a small waterfall where a point works best, the only answers is: point category 'Establishment / Point of Interest'  and additional category 'Waterfall' (but you will have to type it in as custom category - custom categories are allowed regardless of what some reviews say)

see there - I used "lake" to mark it as a polygon, it might be a "natural landmark" or tourist destination" or whatever is best suited - the main purpose being that the name appear
