Colloquial (Local) names dont show on Maps?

I have noticed that names marked as local (in my case Roads) do not show/render by on Google Maps. Only the preferred name is shown.

On the other hand, in Map Maker, for one particular edit, only the Local (colloquial) name is showing on the edit and the Official name is not being rendered on the map.

Any one experience something similar?

To my experience, if there is a preferred name present then it will override all others. But if not then local (colloquial) name takes charge.

IF I remember correctly.... Preferred Name is the highest priority, Local is second..   So Preferred name will display as the map name if available, if no preferred name then the Local name, and finally Official if preferred or local are not available.

map maker used to display both colloquial and preferred/official names together on say a road. currently its only showing the colloquial and not the official or preferred  thats the problem.

oh....  can you give some links?  I have noticed roads that had names but they were not showing on the map too. I will see if I can find them and how the names were categorized.

Here is an area were the road names are not displaying. Most of the roads do not have the name type set and some are set to type Local.  (The road names are all incorrect and they are basically a mess but that is not what we are discussing here.)

May this is the same problem?

The official name is the Khayaban ...
Local Name is Campus road....

On Map Maker only Campus is showing.

On Maps Only Khayaban... is showing!

To add to this comment, in map maker, when you edit/add a nearby feature; you get Khayaban-e-Jamia Punjab in the Street Name drop down menu. See the attached screenshot.

I think the name shown when adding is correct..since that name has the higher priority. its just that local and any high priority names used to be displayed together on the road.
