I'm not sure if this is covered elsewhere, but how do I split a way
into its segments? I have one road, with 2 segments that have
different names, but I can't fix that until each segment is its own
road.

Also, how do I split T intersections for roads that don't really
intersect?

Thanks!

If you want to create intersections on a road, you will have to create "dummy roads" at the places where you want the intersection. Currently, there is no way to add an intersection point.

For deleting intersections, you will have to delete the segments that are connected to the intersections and redraw them without having them intersect. If the segments are long, you might want to create intersections (see above) so that you don't have to redraw too much.

I'm not trying to create intersections on a road. I'm trying to split
a road into its (already separate) segments.

If I am understanding you correctly, you can use the Segment Selection tool to edit the route associations. Select the segment that needs to be changed (and one existing segment with the correct name if you are extending a route name), and then click on Edit Route Associations.

Where is that button ("edit route associations")? I don't see it.

First, use the Segment Selection Tool (3rd button in the Find panel), select the roads, and click Next.

It seems only to work in IE and not in Firefox. But when I click "edit road names", I get this:

Can you post a link to the area?

Select the segments of Gerhard Rd East north of Old Country Rd.

Looks like it’s something with my browser—still giving me an error.

Strange. At any rate, report the error from both browsers by using the Submit Feedback link at the top right. If you want to, you can use Google Chrome or Chrome Frame (which works within IE) for Map Maker and/or tell me what needs to be changed.

The error on Firefox is that it doesn’t select the segment-it highlights, but clicking does nothing.

Anyway what needs to be changed is the conversion of the segment north of Old Country Rd to be named “Central Park Rd”.

I tested it on Firefox 4.0.1 and 5.0, and it's working correctly. You don't get any green balloons on either side of the selected road?

Anyways, so this road has the same name as the major road next to it?

That’s right, same name.

Not sure why my Firefox isn’t working, I’ll try again later with all addons disabled.
