Updates to road closures will take months to migrate to the main map, as Directions right now is only updating 2 or 3 times a year.  If the road is suddenly out, you should use Report a Problem via Maps to get it handled quicker.  That is not to say that you shouldn't leave your edits in place; just that a quicker review is not going to help much in the current situation, other than getting the visual representation updated.

What? Really?
Does Google Maps sync with any other databases?
Such as OpenStreetMaps ?
Because 2 - 3 times each year is pretty terrible.
And to think I was considering using Google Earth Pro for our GIS needs here at the fire station.

That is just for Directions, and there appears to be an issue right now as it used to update more regularly.  Your edits will appear on the map right away, but Directions will continue to follow the old roads/conditions until the next time it is updated.

There is no sync with other products.

Maps updates "instantly" (usually before you can check, very occasionally might take up to a day) with Map Maker changes.  Other products such as Mobile, Search, Earth and Directions then render the changes over time.  For all of those we used to say between 2 and 8 weeks depending when in the cycle you did your update, but lately Directions is taking longer.

You would be better off to use Maps for you GIS needs; or if using Earth you should draw in or flag any changes.
