In newly launched map, searching for "Yerevan, Armenia" results in a badly chosen view (zoom, center point)

Hi!

Congratulations to all mapmakers for newly launched Google maps and
many thanks to MapMaker (and Google Maps) team for a wonderful job!

Here is an issue with newly launched Yerevan (capital of) Armenia.
When you type "yerevan" or "yerevan, armenia" it zooms too much into a
point which is not even the center of the city. I think the initial
view of a city is important.

The current setting seems to be:
Map Center: 40.159460, 44.509048
Zoom Level: 16 (19 being the closest to the ground)

A much better choice (which shows the whole city, with center of the
city in the map center) would be:
Map Center: 40.181234, 44.514542
Zoom level: 13 (or 12)

Thank you!
Armen

Hi,
I tried searching for "Yerevan" and it gave me good zoom levels on the
search.

Hi Nadeem,

I meant when you search in *newly launched* Google maps, not MapMaker.
But I should have mentioned it so it wouldn't be misleading. I mean if
you search for "Yerevan, Armenia" in Google Maps (not MapMaker). And
thanks Nadeem for taking the time and replying so others won't make
the same mistake and ignore the issue!

Oh ! I thought you were referring to the Map Maker data ... anyways
it's always best to include a link :)

Link :
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Yerevan,+Armenia&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=63.856965,134.648437&ie=UTF8&ll=40.159591,44.508995&spn=0.007675,0.016437&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A

Maybe someone will look at it now.

Oops! Maybe I was mistaken about it being fixed. Things went back to
how they were :( I wish I had copied the link yesterday when it worked
correctly. I tried to search for "Yerevan, Armenia" in google maps
yesterday and it worked fine with a great view (zoom level). Doing the
same thing today and it's back to old settings. Am I missing something
here?

Spoke to early there did you now :)

By the way, is this the right place for this issue to be raised or is
this something that we should maybe report on the Google Maps group ?

:))

Yes indeed!!! But I couldn't guess a newly created good data would go
back to its initial incorrect state!! moral: in GMM (and in life!) if
it's too good, wait a little! [before celebrating, believing, etc.] :P

I don't know :/ but the developers who port the data from GMM check
these discussions so I thought this might be the place
