Ads in Maps vs. POI location

This is a screenshot of my phone last night. I had just moved a POI for Lowe's to the correct location (the "A" marker in the image), but noticed that when I did a search for this business, an ad came up that marked it at the old incorrect location (lower left corner). So here's the question -- does a business's ad determine a POI's location? Or does the ad placement follow from location data already in Maps? I ask because although I can't confirm anything now, I could just about swear that the Lowe's was at the right location (or in that parking lot anyway) before.

Just how recent was that move? Updated location data may not have propagated to all relevant Maps databases yet.

I really hate ask this, but it is something I'm running into more and more with the information crossing over from there, but..  Does it have a Places page? If so, you'll need to change the position from within the Places page to the correct location.

A few hours old at the time (and it's still the same now, about 12 hours later). Your answer presumes that the ad location follows from existing Maps data, but my question is whether that's really the case or not. Maybe I should just wait and see if this propagation happens or not.
