In terms of Google, we have start thinking about the parts of it that
we want to begin developing: Google has quite a few pages, some of
which are:

Google Search
Google Advanced Search
Google Preferences
Google Mail
Google Groups
iGoogle
Google Talk
Good Web History
Google Blogger

Hope this helps get a sense of what is needed. There are other pages
as well which I'll begin collating.

Just to note - Google tells us "It is highly recommended that you
complete Google's Main Search Site first. Google's auxiliary products
cannot be offered until the main search site has been translated."
So at least we know what the first phase will be.

I've been in touch with Google and hope to hear back from them
regarding what to do next. My thoughts are that we need to get the
first page translated (as you have pointed out) and then send it to
Google.

I am currently working and living in Wellington at Huia Publishers. I don't know what is involved in the maori google but if you need a translator or if anyone wants to discuss things in maori or about the culture, I'll be here.

In thinking about things further Potaua, those pages you've listed are
great, but I think we will need to concentrate on the links that come
off Google's HomePage first (and then begin with all subsequent pages
that connect off the mainpage) - The homepage should include the
following words:

New Zealand (no doubt that will be Aotearoa - but I suppose it could
be Tangata Whenua, Tangata Whenua Maori or just Maori - wadda I know
(Ko tauiwi ahau!)

Excellent Rona - thanks for your post. We most definitely need you :)
- as Te Reo will be the central focus of this journey. Te Mihinga
Komene and Charisma Rangipunga have contacted us and both can
translate as well No doubt there will be others. We were thinking a
translation team will be best, so that the group can collectively
discuss the significance of each word/s and decide which should be
used.

Once they jump on we can create a separate discussion, as probably you
will want to do this part ki roto i te Reo Maori and then come back to
the main discussion once the team has decided on the appropriate word/
words. Ka pai tera?
