Posted By Judy Nelson, YALSA PresidentTechnology and libraries have become inextricably linked. One of the challenges we face as young adult librarians is how to ensure that teens become competent and ethical technology users, especially with technologies that are offered through libraries. To that end, we at the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) have just celebrated the first ever
Teen Tech Week.
Among other activities and programs, we've organized a couple of contests. Librarians and educators are invited to compete for the title of the best Teen Tech Week display, as well as the the best Teen Tech Week event, with prizes that include a visit with
Lauren Myracle, an author of young adult novels. Teens have an opportunity to win, too. The teen who shoots the most creative video encouraging his or her peers to use the library will win a prize. To learn more, visit the
Contest page. The deadline to enter is March 19 -- so get those entries in now!

Come for the Xbox, Stay for the Books.”
If you missed this year's festivities, next year's Teen Tech Week has been slotted for March 2-8, 2008. And to learn more about YALSA, go to our
