problem is: 3.0 is stagnant and will probably *never* move.
I don't understand your aversion to "running wine *globally*" or what you
are inferring. You must remember that wine is *not* windoz.
3.8 is more feature complete and even works better in linux/wine that 3.0
did.

So you have asked, but there is no and will not be any version of picasa
for linux, only windows unless google commits a lot of manpower, time and
money for a small market. And they have shown no inclination to do so
yet. It's something like .issing into the wind!
But saying "picasa 2.7 works" is like saying that my Model A Ford runs.
Good luck with that.
They make a windows version of picasa that they packaged with a tricked
out version of wine and said it was for linux. There is/was/will not be
any linux version of picasa!

Not pertinent, agree they make a linux version of googleearth

I have some off-shore property I can let go pretty cheeep.
gud luck :^)

Sellouts! Apparently there's some chicanery about paying royalties to
M$ for some android stuff. Makes me feel dirty.

Aaarrrggghhh. Can I run two separate picasas? 3.0 with its own wine
and 3.7 or .8 with the wine I already have? Using the same photo
subdirectories?

Are you telling me they have no regard for loyal users who were there
from the very beginning? Surely not!

Given that Google makes its living from linux, it wouldn't seem to be a major effort to maintain the Linux port of Picasa.
If they built it right it shouldn't be much effort at all. They should be building all the OS ports from a common code base.
Saying something runs in wine is unsat. Perhaps we should abandon Picasa if Google has abandoned us?
Cheers

EXCEPT, there is NO linux port of picasa PERIOD.

place????
