I've got wine 1.1.32 on a 32-bit x86 Fedora Rawhide system. I
downloaded picasa36-setup.exe, blew away ~/.wine entirely, and ran "wine
picasa36-setup.exe". It's been running for ten or fifteen minutes now,
with both PicasaUpdater and wineserver sucking CPU and otherwise
apparently doing nothing.
Whatever y'all did to enable you to install picasa 3.6 under a generic
wine installation, it doesn't appear to work for me.
Any suggestions?

Second that. I cannot install 3.5 or 3.6 via wine in openSUSE 11.2 x86_64.

Picasa 3.6 installs and runs fine on Ubuntu Karmic with wine 1.0.1
Upgraded picasa linux version by replacing files from wine version to
linux version (same procedure as 3.5)

Actually, I have found Picasa 3.6 to run MUUUCH faster than 3.5 with
the face recognition on and all, under the pre-packaged Wine and the
3.0 deb.
I installed Picasa in Wine (latest version) with no problems, and then
moved the folder.

works for me on Ubuntu karmic.

I find that on my 64-bit Ubuntu Karmic machine, the unsupported Wine
version (Picasa Version 3.6.0 (Build 95.1800, 0) for Linux) lacks some
of the features I most appreciated on the supported Picasa Version
3.1.0 (70.8101, 0) for Linux, such as the ability to use CJK languages
in folders and captions. Moreover, fonts are often blurry, i e, at the
upper right of the Picasa window, and geotagging doesn't work (I don't
know if this be due to the fact that I'm located in Europe, not North
America). Still worse, not all of the photos in a given folder on my
harddisk are displayed in Picasa. However, the «People» («Faces»)
feature works fine. I really do hope that now that Chrome/Chromium is
up and running in Linux and Mac as well as Windows OS, the great
Picasa for Linux developers who previously worked on this feature can
return to it !...

Please provide a url for this "linux/wine" version. My wine will not
install the windoz version 3.5/3.6 and I have *not* seen anything past
3.1 packaged for linux.
tks,
