Received the announcement this am that "Picnik", the supposed replacement
for Picasa 3, was disappearing and google was refunding the last year's
subscription to those using the payed service.
I notice that my Picasa 3.9 on linux, opensuse 12.1 via wine, no longer
offers a sign-in to Picasa Web Albums, only Google+ Photos. I can still
get to Picasa Web Albums by the direct url link:
http://picasaweb.google.com/home
but all the language is pushing to G+......
Does anyone see different

With 3.0 it defaults to the g+ page and there doesn't seem to be a
'picasa' button at the 'photos' page any more; I have to log in using a
bookmark.
Unclean.

Last week when I clicked on my picasa albums link it took me to the g+
photos page containing my picasa albums. There was a button (probably
in the black strip at the top) to switch to picasa -- not the desktop,
the picasaweb website. When I did that this time -- before I posted --
there was no switch-to-picasa capability.
I just tried my link again, and it went to the picasaweb site. Mysterious.

The only REAL advantage of g+ is that you have unlimited free photo
storage as long as they are no larger than 2048 pixels (I assume the
langest dimension here, rather than total number). The only prolific
poster in my g+ group (containing people I've "known" via usenet since
the late 90s) is a guy who works for google now :-(
Neither g+ nor facebook has an effective 'I've seen that, make it
invisible now' function. The 'social fixer'' (formerly 'better
facebook') thing makes FB better, but not perfect.
Not like usenet...
