i had translated English subtitles into Hindi and typed it using
online google transliteration site. I then copied in notepad, in some
computers it opens properly but in some the small 'i' Matra and half
letters are not coming properly. Then, I created subtitles using this
txt file in utf-8 coding. Now strangest part is when these subtitles
are uploaded on YouTube, they are working properly, but on vlc,
QuickTime, iTunes they are shown improperly, Hindi letters are fine,
but Matra of small 'i' and half letters are not proper.

Can anyone help in resolving the problem?

Kudos on the creating idea.

Are you on Windows or Linux. I need to try this!

Is there a mode of saving the file in UTF-8 or something?

Unicode Hindi subtitles are not shown properly in VLC player. You can see them properly in Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic (which comes bundled with klite codec pack).
