Hello fellow Indic enthusiasts!

We are pleased to announce the launch of an API for transliteration.
The API allows you to easily add transliteration functionality to
textfields on your web sites. We also provide a low-level API that
simply fetches transliterations for a given word. You can find
detailed documentation here: http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/

We would love to hear back from you and see examples of the API in
action! Please do try it and send your feedback and comments.

Thanks!
Google Indic Team.

Hi,

I am Sree Pillai from http://teck.in

I have been eagerly waiting for this plugin for adding to my multi lingual websites. Great!!

I have created a simple plugin to allow transliteration for WordPress.

http://teck.in/google-indic-transliteration-wordpress-plugin.html

Currently I am not able to get it working with teh TinyMCE rich edit, need to look more into it.

IF you folks have any suggestions on that, please let me know.

Thanks & Regards,
Sree

Thanks for releasing the API. By the way, if any of you are interested
in using a curl based approach to do the same in a non-javascript
environment, you can use the hack on http://www.ekya.com

We have created iGoogle gadgets that use the transliteration API to
help you compose search queries.

These gadgets are also embedded in search pages at

http://labs.google.co.in/transliterated_search/hindi.html
http://labs.google.co.in/transliterated_search/kannada.html
http://labs.google.co.in/transliterated_search/malayalam.html
http://labs.google.co.in/transliterated_search/tamil.html
http://labs.google.co.in/transliterated_search/telugu.html

If you would like to add these gadgets to your own personal iGoogle
pages, please click on the "+Google" button below the gadget.

Please remember that after you type your query word in English you
will need to press the space bar to convert the word to the
appropriate Indian language. You can click on the word or use the
backspace key to bring up alternative conversions if the
transliteration is incorrect.

If you would like to use on screen keyboards to search, these gadgets
are also available at:

http://labs.google.co.in/keyboards/assamese.html
http://labs.google.co.in/keyboards/bengali.html
