We're excited to announce Google Identity Toolkit v2. GITKit now leverages the Central Account Chooser instead of the local GITKit Account Chooser in v1.

Central Account Chooser is developed by the OpenID Foundation and can be used by any site on the Internet. It's primary advantage is that users only need to add their account to their browser once. Once the account is added, the user can provide it as a hint to any other site using Account Chooser. The account addition process is done with HTML5 storage in the browser, so there is no privacy concern that these accounts are being stored by a central resource.

Sites using GITKit v1 with client libraries are not recommended to upgrade at this time.  If you are interested in helping to support updates to the libraries, please let us know.

Please let us know if you have any other feedback.

The Google Identity Toolkit Team.

The main advantage of v2 is it uses the central Account Chooser, which should streamline the log in process on your site. Tim Bray recently posted on the advantages of Account Chooser.

v2 does not have the library support that v1 did. So, if you wanted to use those and didn't care about the central account chooser, then v1 would probably be better.

thanks,
AD

I have installed GIT v2 and the links (i,e you can log in) but the style sheet is not there... Is there a style sheet to format the login?

Can you force to refresh this page? Or try to open it in an incognito/private window to see if it can load the style sheet?

I did empty cache and hard reload. And I tried it incognito, And I tried it from different browser. But still get same result... No CSS.

Can you go to https://gitkit-ac.appspot.com/login.jsp to see if the page is rendered correctly?

Mengcheng,

Thanks!! I now have the CSS loading properly on my site. I think that problem was that I was loading the GIT scripts in the body rather than the header, which I am doing now and it works as expected.

Just need to get the callback working. Will work on that... Thanks again!!!

Is your site accessible? If so, can you give a pointer to you login page so I can take a look at it?

Hi ,

I had integrated Google Identity Toolkit v1 in my web application , shall I upgrade it to Google Identity Toolkit v2 now ? and also while using Google Identity Toolkit v1 , I am unable to log in from iPhone and iPad to my application. Is there any way to resolve this issue ?

Thanks,
Vinuthna

If you are using any of the client libraries with v1, I would not bother to upgrade. Otherwise, upgrading will have your site use accountchooser.com. This should streamline the sign-in process for your users on your site.

Can you provide more information about what you are seeing?

thanks,
