Hello Identity Toolkit Developers,

For anyone who didn't see our post to the main group yesterday, we announced the public availability of Identity Toolkit v3!

The big differences over earlier versions are:
Native mobile support for Android and iOS apps
Facebook and Paypal sign-in options
Built-in support for passwords
Easier server-side integration

Many of the improvements were achieved by transitioning to an Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) model. This reduces the integration and maintenance burden on your side by offloading most of the business logic to our APIs to handle the entire sign-in process. This includes validating passwords, managing whether a user is new or existing, and abstracting away provider-specific methods of fetching users’ names and photos. And of course, manage your users whenever you’d like via our APIs.

Ready to get started? Head on over to check out our new quickstarts!

For sites using v1/v2, we encourage you to look at the documentation of v3 and consider migration to v3 by following the documentation for Migrating an existing site and give us feedback. We aim to work with the community to provide an easy upgrade path within the next couple of weeks.

As always, we love receiving feedback. If you are actively using Google Identity Toolkit or are thinking about starting, please email our group, google-iden...@googlegroups.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hope you enjoy version 3!
The Google Identity Toolkit Team
