Hi

I am the PMC Chair of Apache Onami, a library of third party
extensions for guice.

Currently the project has become somewhat stale and needs new
comitters that can either contribute new stuff or continue develop
things further. If you join this project you will become an Apache
comitter.

If interested take a look here http://onami.apache.org/ . Write me a
mail (nino.martinez.wael at gmail dot com ).

This is a final shout. If nothing comes of this, we will the project
will be moved to attic :(

Hi Nino

I'm sorry to hear this project has gone stale - but even though I use one element of it, I'd have to say that I'm not surprised.  The web site is  hard to find your way around - and with no forum, there's nowhere really for a discussion to get going to create some interest - committers are more likely to materialise that way.

Is it too late do you think, to try this kind of thing, before committing the project to the attic?

Well there are the standard apache mailing lists, which AFAIK are the
normal apache way, but does NOT exclude other ideas. ..

If the web site are confusing, then we should change it. at the moment
anything are possible, which was why I wrote here:)

Hi Nino

Mailing lists are the normal Apache way, but not the most accessible.  It may just be my personal preference, but I think forums just make it easier for people to get involved.

To be a bit more constructive about the confusing website - I've just gone back to it to have another look.  I've just spotted the top bar with "Extensions" and other things on it, which I don't remember seeing before, but I do think you need a simpler opening page listing the various components and what they do - I don't want to wait for the banner to come round to something interesting.

BTW - why is 'persist' under "sandbox" yet it is at v1.0.1?

Good luck, though, I hope you can get some more support

I agree. Mailing lists are a pain to me. Google groups are by far a better option in my opinion. It's very easy to search for something and I do not need to receive emails every time.

It's a good idea, however it seems spread a bit thin for me.

I'd love to see someone take the best parts of it, make them even better, and bring them up to date.

I also couldn't find the Guava extension in Maven:  http://search.maven.org/#search%7Cga%7C1%7Conami%20guava

What kind of work is required to keep the project alive?

Hey Nino,

I havn't heard of this project until now, and onami-test looks like a good way to push my tests off my current inheritence scheme (whereby different tests share the same module by inheriting from a sort've bootstrapper, that keeps and injects the members on itself) with something with a little more composition. looking at the syntax on the getting-started-ish code on the page, I've got some ideas.

I know very little about onami, but I've been reading up on it for the last few minutes. looks like a couple of interesting projects. I'd be willing to spend some time maintaining it, though it'll be a while before I'm on-boarded.
