Problems with Backround in Google Web Designer

Hi, my first problem is that although I can show a gradient on my designer screen, when I go to preview it doesn't show at all and images are blocked.

The second problem is that when a preview is shown, only the "Ad" is shown with no side panels at all - the Ad is shoved over to the left.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
