No. I know activites (not comments) have a limited life.
The "activities gadget" just doesn't populate with the data, but shows
the message it would if the HAD been no site activity for longer than
thirteen days.
Like I said a page refresh always brings site activities back: but I
would like to know if there is something I can do to prevent this
happening.
I assume it is a server latencey issue or something?

I know Disqus: but as far as I understand they do not currently allow
commenting through Friend Connect?
If that has changed recelty I would certainly consider implementing
Disqus if I could enable Friend Connect AND Facebook integration.
I would not want to do without Friend Connect entirely because I am
much more in favour of the Open Social concept rather than Facebook's
"single corridor" method.
