Especially in Canda it seems there a constantly symbols that don't work.

Fortis the major Electrical utility (dividend 5 star) listed on TSE and NYSE doesn't return anything in sheets, (both NYSE:FTS and TSE:FTS but works on finance.google.com.

Go figure.

NYSE:BEP is listed on the TSE but does not even appear on finance.google.com.
Who cares if the currency is wrong.  Just let them use the NYSE!

Google:  If you are going to make this stuff into a sheet function, at least do it properly.

Is this managed by people who know nothing about investments?

At this time Granite Reit listed on both TSE and NYSE is totally broken.

The master of search on its Finance site returns NOTHING when typing Granite.   Nevertheless the symbol on the NYSE  GRP.UN can be found.
Within Google sheets NYSE:BRP.UN returns NOTHING.   TSE:BRP.UN returns NOTHING

TSE: AD.UN (Alaris Equity) returns NOTHING.

I have more examples on this date, but its too frustrating to even bother checking further.

This is total garbage data.   Google FYI:  Its not just about the pretty presentation.  Its about reliable data.

Google:  JUST GIVE UP!  You are not able to do this correctly.   Abandon this and send us to Yahoo.

I hear you..... But.....

Another example is Brookfield Corporation spun out of Brookfield asset management (one of the largest asset managers)  NYSE:BN   is returns total garbage data in Google finance, and nothing in Google sheets.    Search for TSE:BN in Googel finance (https://www.google.com/finance/quote/BAM:TSE).   It will show the company as Brookfield Corp, (which should have the symbol TSE:BN.   Search for TSE:BN and it will switch to NYSE:BN.

TSE:AD.UN returns nothing

Understandably there can be issues from time to time.    Brookfield was spun out last December and is one of the largest alternative asset managers listed even in the US.   This is no obscure stock symbol.    All these symbols (including above post work on Yahoo).   Returning bad financial data on finance.google.com is unacceptable enough for the master search and data corp.   Returning bad data in Google Sheets is totally unacceptable.   Its been like this for years and Google has demonstrated they don't know how or don't care how to do it correctly.   Just make it work with Yahoo quotes or pull the functionality altogether.
