to Google Fiber for Greensboro
As home to seven colleges and universities, including two graduate
schools and a law school, Greensboro offers Google an unparallelled
opportunity to test its ultra high-speed internet among many savvy
users whether students or faculty. Students at all levels tend to be
up-to-date in the use of cutting edge approaches. Faculty, as well as
graduate students are typically engaged in research that would make
good use of such capabilities, both in carrying out their work and in
disseminating it.

to Google Fiber for Greensboro
I know I've made fun of Greensboro's efforts to hook Google but it's
not because I don't want fiber to come to Greensboro. As I've said all
along, show Google what's in it for Google that no other city in
America is ready, willing and able to do and we will land us a keeper.

Professor Smith's comments are right on target and exactly the sort of
thing I think we should be aiming for but that may not be enough so
we'd best start asking ourselves what we can offer that no one else
can offer.

But there is another way as was done in nearby Wilson, NC. Show the
existing ISPs including Time Warner and Google that Greensboro doesn't
need them. Show them how we are able to build our own community based,
fiber network and it just might be Google will pick Greensboro simply
because Google and the other ISPs fear competing with thousands of
community owned ISPs across the nation.

And if it doesn't work then we still get our fiber network.

In my mind, there is no valid reason not to select Greensboro, North
Carolina.
