Folders showing up as number labels?

I tried Google Email Uploader for Mac for the first time today,
uploading from Mail on OSX 10.7.2 (Lion). The interface shows my
folder names correctly (Friends, Family, Work, etc.) and I checked
"assign mailbox names as Gmail labels" but when I look in Gmail it's a
jumbled mess. There are labels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, plus some others I
didn't have originally (Data, Follow Up, Misc, Priority). The labels
seem to be applied chronologically -- oldest messages (regardless of
which folders I had them in in Mail) are 1's, and newest ones are 5's.

I didn't try to do anything fancy -- mostly just accepted the default
settings. Any ideas on what went wrong?

I've tried a few additional attempts with no success. I thought the
problem may have been that I was trying to do 3 mail accounts at once,
so I limited to a single account. Same strange 1-5 labels applied to
messages by date and not by folder. Then I tried uploading a single
folder (each time after deleting all Google Mail in my account) and
got the same behavior.

Please look inside the Mail.app mail folder in the user account library to see if those folder names are what contain the actual mail messages. The uploader probably needs to be revised to better find Mail.app mailbox names on Lion.

To look at the mail folder, in the Finder type command-shift-G and type in the folder name

I am having the same problem! My labels are showing up only as 6, 5.
This makes years of sorting email in nested folders a waste. You
would think that with companies investing money in migrating to Google
Apps that they would have a good migration tool.

Having to resort to using third party software Emailchemy ($30), which
at least puts proper label names for each folder and subfolder, but
still is not smart enough to nest the labels properly in Gmail.
Google, please find a fix for us! We want to use your product, but
please make it easier for us to do so!!

Same problem here. Running on Lion, my mailboxes don't have any numbers in them but they are showing up this way—very frustrating!
