Hi folks

I needed this tool to migrate a few users into Google Apps but they're all on 10.8 and this app doesn't work properly for that.

I've "fixed" and rebuilt the app and it now does the following:

- Works with Mail.app from OSX 10.8
- If creating Gmail labels from folders it correctly created nested labels from nested folders

The source and a new binary is available from https://bitbucket.org/jimcroft/google-email-uploader-mac/downloads#download-224072 (you probably need to signup for a free Bitbucket account to access).

Caveats: This is working for me migrating Mail.app from 10.8 into Gmail but I may/probably have broken importing for other versions or other mail clients. I'm not going to be maintaining this going forward, just offering it up as I can see some folk could probably make use of it.

Cheers

Jim

Thanks for your time on this. You're welcome to contribute a patch to the main project if you'd like the changes to be incorporated.

Hi Jim,
it doesn't work on my Mac (10.8.4) : a popup says "Uploading to gmail.com and googlemail.com accounts is not currently supported".
Did you have this message too ?

Thanks

Hi Florent

The app is for migrating mail into Google Apps account. It doesn't support @gmail.com or @googlemail.com accounts. See the requirements on the main page (https://code.google.com/p/google-email-uploader-mac/). I haven't looked but suspect a GData or other API limitation with non Google Apps accounts.

If you want to migrate email into free a Gmail account you should hunt around for import methods using IMAP.

Cheers

Hi Jim.

Thanks for the 10.8 update/fix!

No problem downloading from BitBucket but I did have some trouble opening the unzipped .CPGZ file (I ended up downloading and using The Unarchiver V3.9).

I've uploaded the mails from my old email account (GoDaddy IMAP) to my new Google Apps email account.

Question:  Was it meant to upload/integrate to the primary inbox and sent folder or just put everything into a separate/new folder?

The uploaded mails (both received and sent) are now on the Google server in a separate folder ("Uploaded on Oct. 4").  This can easily be achieved by dragging/dropping folders in Apple Mail (and is not as convenient as having received and sent mails in their corresponding primary boxes) so I wonder if perhaps I have not used the Uploader App properly...

Regards,
  Jon

Jim.

Thank you for this.  Mine won't open because it's from an 'unsopported developer'  See attached pic.  Any ideas?

thanks.

This happens with (roughly) anything that did not come from the App Store. Open it using control click.

Jim -

Quick question for you - I have been unable to get the folder names to upload from Mac mail to Google mail as labels. All I get is a single label for all uploaded mail that is the date of the upload. Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks,

Steve

Would this work on OS 10.11.6? I am trying to migrate all my various POP emails in Apple Mail to Gmail.

Thanks!
