[ANNOUNCEMENT] Python 2 will be unsupported in Earth Engine after October 2021

Greetings Earth Engine developers!

The Python community sunsetted Python 2 on January 1, 2020. While Earth Engine has continued to support both Python 2 and 3 in the Earth Engine Python client library since that time, we will stop supporting Python 2 at the end of October 2021.

Earth Engine Python client library releases after 2021-10-31 will not work with Python 2. If you maintain scripts and/or applications that rely on Python 2, you will need to upgrade to Python 3 before updating the client library. There are many resources available on the web to help with upgrading, including Python.org's Porting Python 2 Code to Python 3.
