I'm trying to get our IT department to allow folks to download the
google updater.exe, but they seem to have concerns about network
security.

The response I get:

"Google has changed the way in which the google earth installer works,
in a way that is counter to current network and internet security
practices. Once downloaded and installed it attempts to go back out
to the google site to then download and install google earth. The way
in which it does this is blocked at our proxy server, and any program
behaving this way would be blocked as well, not just the google
installer."

Can anyone offer some insight into any security concerns about
installing GE or GE plugin? I

Any examples of small governments using GE plugin out there?

Thanks,
CCHD

Hi CCHD,

Would an alternative be an offline setup method, like the one that the
current Mac plugin installer uses? We have a feature request for this
that you could vote on at:
