I've an animated gif, and I tried to include that as a screen-overlay,
but it didn't work. I'm very sure I didn't do anything wrong. So, my
question is: is it even possible to have an animated gif as a screen-
overlay?

Also, a gif image with transparency doesn't stay transparent when
added as a screen-overlay, but png does. Anyone know how to fix that
problem?

Thanks!
K.

K,

Animated GIFs aren't a supported screen overlay format in KML; only
the first frame of the GIF will be rendered. There is an article that
can potentially be of use at http://freegeographytools.com/2007/animated-gifs-in-google-earth.
