Could you give us some details on your system, i.e. operating system,
browsers you've tried, etc. Also, are you behind a proxy? Any details
would greatly help in the troubleshooting process.

Can you try downloading/installing again? We made some modifications
to the install process that may solve the problem.

Hi KES,

There are known issues with Vista's UAC (User Account Control); can
you try turning off UAC temporarily by following the instructions at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691.aspx (see
"Scenario 3" near the middle of the page)? After UAC is turned off,
try installing the plugin again.

Also, make sure you are using the latest installer from
http://code.google.com/apis/earth.

Hi Xerox,

Was Chrome previously installed? We've seen this error occur when
Chrome was installed and then incorrectly uninstalled. I'd also
suggest checking out the Chrome help center at
http://groups.google.com/group/google-chrome-help for more help.

hi guys, I have the same problem. could not install Chrome before, and
now the same with Earth API
problem: code 0x80040905
winxp sp2
ie7
full admin
I might add that I have searched before and found it may have to do
with the windows installer service. I tried to reinstall that but also
that would not install.
I'm sure the answer will be simple, only who's got it?

Hi 3dZiggy,

Try running the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

and then reinstalling. The download link is near the middle of the
page. Let me know if that works.
