Turning off setFeatureView "hopping"

Hi,
I'm trying to zoom straight into a location (by changing the range in
a LookAt).
If I'm in nadir (tilt == 0) mode, the zoom works as expected. However,
if you are tilted at all, the zoom animation "hops" to the location.
Is there any way to fix this hopping?

It looks like this only happens when using a view constructed with
ALTITUDE_ABSOLUTE
