Hello Fellows,

My company is manufacturing airborne hyperspectral imaging systems.

The system has on-board a GPS/INS device sending the position at
regular interval. The GPS coordinates will be sent to the ground to be
able to control the acquisition and flight lines.

We are investigating the possibility to make an application on the
ground station that would be able to have a moving map showing the
plane position and trace the trajectory.

We develop application in with VC++/MFC.

I'm not sure were to ask for tutorial and source example so I'm
throwing the question here hoping that someone could guide me on how
to use the Google Earth or Google Map API/plugin with MFC and let me
know if what we are intending to do is possible with those APIs.

Thanks!

I already have an application (in VB.NET) that does this. StarTraX
(http://gpsanimator.com). The released (free) version takes a pre-
recorded GPS track and presents it in GE. I have an un-released
version that takes a real-time NMEA stream and presents the track in
GE.
Have a look and if you're interested in the NMEA version - let's chat.

Hello StarTraX!

This looks interesting.

Any chances to get some general info on how you've implemented this?
It will be a VC++ implementation for us.

Thanks!

Hi,

You could also take a look at this control library I put together in
c#.
http://code.google.com/p/winforms-geplugin-control-library/
Maybe it will be of some use to you.

Hi "lfdm",
Today I have added a high level technical description of the StarTraX
program to the User Notes PDF on the website at http://www.gpsanimator.com/UserNotes.PDF
that might get you started.
You can contact me through the contact details on the web site.

Cheers
