BUILDING layer "dying"

I have an application Ive been working on which uses LAYER_BUILDINGS,
it works well for a while but after an event that I have yet to
isolate, the plugin stops rendering any buildings. Attempting to
disable then re-enable the layer fails to improve the situation.

If I exit out of the browser and then quickly restart, it oddly
continues to operate in a failed state, if however I allow sufficient
time between the shutting down the browser and restarting it such that
the google earth application itself restarts then the issue is
resolved.

Im running on an XP system using Firefox.

Has anyone seen this before and if so is there a API based work
around?
