Hi.

i need some help on debugging a nasty display error on some machines,
mostly on old hardware (eg pentium 4, 512 MB ram, on board graphics)
but also a few more recent machines are affected (f.ex. a notebook
with pentium-m 2 ghz, 1 gb ram, ati graphics adapter).

the ground layer itself and the city markers are displayed correctly
on every machine,
they can freely navigate and move around.
But as soon as they select a country layer, e.g. Portugal the camera
moves but the layer is not shown.Instead only bits of the white
borders are shown.

Here is how it has to look:

Do you have any recommendations/ideas what goes wrong?

regards
Joerg

Hi Joerg,

The polygons render fine on my machine. If the computers are old, try
following these steps to tweak Google Earth:

Thanks,
Roman

Hi Roman,

thanks a lot for you reply.

The article you pointed to is only handling the google earth
application...so how can i
switch the rendering engine (directx or opengl) for the ge-plugin when
google earth app is not installed?

Hi Joerg,

I believe you can control this using the following registry key.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google\GoogleEarthPlugin\Render\RenderingApi
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where 0 = DirectX and 1 = OpenGL

See this thread for more info on this:
